Secondary Glazing
Secondary glazing involves the installation of new, fully independent secondary glazed frames, fixed, or opening, on the room side of your existing windows. Carefully designed and professionally fitted by AES to provide effective acoustic and thermal insulation with added draught prevention.
Secondary glazing provides improved acoustic insulation, to protect against noise pollution regularly found in built up areas or caused by road, rail, or aircraft traffic. These noise levels can be considerably reduced by up to 75% using standard glazed frames and reduced even further when glazed with either laminated, or acoustic laminated glass. This highly effective form of sound proofing can additionally be used internally, for partitions, or in noisy environments such as music venues, where sound might need to be kept in.
Our secondary glazing systems can also improve thermal insulation, saving energy and reducing fuel bills. Heat lost via single glazing averages 20% of a property's total heat loss, this can be reduced by up to 50% with well fitted secondary glazing.
